Biography
Born
in Roma,
he attends the Accademia di Belle Arti in his native town.
Then he graduates at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
Since 1986 to 1999 he has taken part in several productions as set and costume
designer assistant
with famous directors like Ferreri, Menotti, Monicelli and Ronconi.
At the same time he is pupil of Pierluigi Samaritani and Alberto Fassini.
Since 1987 he have staged a lot of performances:
the costumes for "Il
potere e la gloria" by Graham Greene
(directed by Giancarlo Sbragia);
the set for "Giulietta
e Romeo" by Sergeij Prokofev
(coreography by Massimo Moricone, Malmo Musiktheater, 1994),
the costumes for "Il
naso" by Dmitri Sostakovic (directied
by Terlezchi, SpoletoFestival, 1994),
and the set and costumes for "Maestro
delle primule" (coreography by
Moricone, Roma, 1994 and Atene Opera National Theatre, 1995).
In 1997 he begins his collaboration with the director Stefano
Vizioli,
with whom he creates the "Trittico"
by Puccini at the Lisboa Sao Carlos Theatre.
In 1998 he stages a lot of performances as set and costume designer:
"Apollon"
(coreography by M. Moricone, Berlin Deutsche Oper),
"Fedora"
by Umberto Giordano (Politeama Greco in Lecce, direction by A.Fassini),
"Piegapiaga" (Acquario Romano in Rome, coreography by M. Moricone,
music by M. Lupone).
In the Season 1999-2000 he creates set and costumes for the following productions:
Tancredi
by Rossini at the Verdi Theatre in Sassari (directed by Vizioli),
Pulcinella by Stravinskij in Roma (directed by Moricone, Teatro
Nazionale),
"Rigoletto"
by Verdi in Tokyo (directed by Fassini, N.N. Theatre)
and "Un
ballo in maschera" by Verdi in
Lisboa (Sao Carlos Theatre directed by S.Vizioli).
In 2001 he creates at the Maggio Musicale Theatre in Florence the costumes for
"La
montagna incantata", a new production
by Moricone from Thomas Mann with music by Lupone.
In the same year he produces the set and costumes for
"Jekill
e Hyde" with the Northern Ballet
(London, Sadlers Wells)
and for "Faustus
Circus" at the Biennale Danza in
Venice, both coreographed by Moricone.
In Rome he draws the costumes for "Nonostante
tutto
Beati voi" (direction
by P. Garinei, Sistina Theatre)
and Fassini entrust him the re-stage of Don Carlo by Verdi in the
historical edition by Visconti.
With Stefano Vizioli he stages "Tancredi"
at Malibran Theatre in Venezia.
Nel 2002, always with Fassini, he stages again "Manon"
di J. Massenet (Naples, San Carlo Theatre) and conceives the costumes for
"La
Forza del Destino" by Verdi at
Festival Verdi in Parma. In July he stages
"Rigoletto"
at Lyric Theatre in Cagliari with the direction by Fassini;
in October "Otello" by Verdi at the
Verdi Theatre in Sassari (directed by Stefano Monti).
He is preparing "Trovatore" and "Un
ballo in maschera" by Verdi
for Baltimora Opera Company.
